Carlos Huber: "In March 2014, I was traveling to Japan for the first time, a country with an intriguing past and a culture that fascinated me. By pure chance, I learned about the story of Hasekura Tsunenaga, the Japanese ambassador, and his journey to Mexico and Europe, which inspired this fragrance. From my studies of Mexican history, I knew about the famous trade route that linked the Philippines to Mexico via Spain. One day, I stumbled upon the story of a particular journey, which took the first embassy of Japanese noblemen to Europe via Mexico. Everywhere they went, they tried to close trade deals to import goods to Japan. Luckily for me, when I arrived in Japan, the National Museum was celebrating the 400th anniversary of the journey by exhibiting the original portrait of Hasekura Tsunenaga. Also on display at the exhibition were Japanese panels painted in the Nanban style, meaning "Western or European" because it arose from the influence of foreign traders in Nagasaki in the early 17th century.
