This "J. W. Nicholson & Co. Ltd" "London Gin" lithographed steel sign is in "as found" condition. J.& W. Nicholson & Co was a London-based gin maker founded in 1730s during the gin craze, although this sign was produced in France. The sign has retained a good depth of colour, however, the paint has crazing, chips and patches of loss in places, as well as the scuffs, marks and scratches you would expect from an item of this age and use. However, the red, black and gold lettering is still legible and clear and the images still have a good level of detail. The bottom of the sign has the makers details. I have tried to show the condition in the photographs. There are two holes to the top of the sign where it would be hung.
