Vintage Chilean - fine quality Art & Crafts souvenir "Silent Butler" made by Chile Recuerdo copper, with brass & silver mixed metal; relief plaque of "Republica De Chile Coat Of Arms" Online research reveals some further information: A silent butler is a small container, often made of metal, with a handle and a hinged lid, used for collecting table crumbs or ashes from cigarettes to keep the area tidy during meals or social gatherings. Also called an ash butler or a crumb catcher, it allows hosts or servants to discretely gather debris without interrupting the event or making a mess. Condition: there is a spot of lead solder where a hinge to the lid was once attached (now missing) - otherwise good uncleaned condition. Size: 13.5cm diameter and 3.5cm high (excluded the lid and handle).
