An incredible antique medical book by Joseph Pancoast M. D . tilted "Pancoast's Operative Surgery" c 1844 that features 80 colored plates from paintings by Nicholas Biddle and 486 seperate illustration published by Carey and Hart, Philadelphia. it has its original embossed green cloth cover. wear to edges and corners noted, several small tears to edge of pages noted. binding seams to be intact , but over paper on opening page shows cracking. Of special note is the very early inclusion of plastic surgery. It measures 12.75" tall x 10.5" across x approximately 1.5" thick.
