The reverse has a compass. Moulded into the case is A really great collectable. The box and instructions are in good order, no tears or wear. This wonderful little gadget is in good working order.

Emil Oskar Richter (1841-1907) started out as a clock maker and eventually developed an interest in drawing/drafting tools. And in 1892 he patented his "flat system" drop bow twin leaf compass. Once the patent ran out in 1905 many other manufactures started replicating his design.
