Very nice quality. Stamped Jennens and Bettridge, London. The top is ebonised Japanned lacquer. Inlaid with a stunning mother of pearl detail very much in the manner of Jennens and Bettridge. The partnership between Theodore Hyla Jennens and John Bettridge in 1815, Birmingham. They were renowned for producing high quality papier mache items. Very rare to see a stamped piece. Ideal for jewellery, letters or needlework. Victorian about 1850. Original lining of Victorian paper, very nice condition. Hand painted. Hardly used, possibly a cabinet piece. Key. 5” x 4” x 3 1/2”
