The valve comes with two ceramic levers - the top controls the water flow and the water on/off for the main showerhead and the bottom controls the water flow and water on/off for the handheld shower allowing you to use both outlets at the same time. The cross handles in the middle of the valve provides ease of use and allows you to control the temperature.
