Requires 6 AA batteries. Recently, it beeped. I thought it needs new batteries. On the back, it has a Replace by 2025 August 15 date. Not sure that is the built-in obsolescence problem. It could be that the batteries I bought was bad, but decided to get another Nest Protect.
