Finally, by boiling this salt with alcohol for 4 or 5 days, its tincture was extracted. Just as a small quantity of essential oil is extracted from an aromatic plant, so it is possible to extract a small quantity of tincture from a salt. Since the Tartar insoluble in alcohol, it is not a dissolution, but an extraction: from the crystals the “its quality and its specific virtue”."
