An unusual EARLY TYPE TAIL HANDLE for a Stanley No. 9 3/4 or No. 15 1/2 block plane by STANLEY. This handle retains its original beaded rosewood knob and it is in essentially unused condition. Unlike any handle of this type that we have seen, this handle has a brass nut to secure it to the plane body that is held captive in the opening in the cast iron fitting. The brass nut has early type spiral knurling and the only way to remove it from where it is would be to break the cast iron or the brass nut. A nice example of a highly sought Type 11 jack plane. The body is sound with no cracks or repairs. The previous own marked the body for easy identification. I cleaned years of grime to better revel the sound rust free parts. The new owner may wish to further restore to yet another level. The plane iron is close to full length, nearly 8”. The front knob has a couple dings, but is sound.
