Early versions of the No. 5 1/2 and No. 605 1/2 series used this 2 1/4" width iron iron, which was unique those Stanley planes. The No. 5 1/2 was changed to use the 2 3/8" width iron used on the No. 4 1/2, 6 and 7 beginning in 1939. This very little used example is marked with the "Stanley Rule & Level Co." banner trademark, which has been designated as trademark letter "T".
