Type 1 i believe. It has the black japanning. The millers patent date on the side also says stanley on it. Has the fancy handle and the front knob is crack free. This one also has the solid brass screws to hold the cutters.

Hi, here is a good example of a vintage. BAILEY. STANLEY number 4 wood plane , left as found from my dads garage , i am sure it will clean up nicely or leave as is and use, These are noted as the best planes i think.? replacement rear handle is nylon , but it is nice and firm , the front round handle is wood, please see all my photos. , it has BAILEY NO 4 cast in the base which i hope you can see, thanks for looking.
