The Stanley vintage wood plane no. 4 is a smooth decorative tool that is a collectible piece for woodworking enthusiasts. This original vintage piece from the well-known brand Stanley adds a touch of nostalgia and craftsmanship to any woodworking project. Perfect for carpentry and woodworking, this plane is a unique and functional addition to any tool collection. This is a little rough and probably best suited to be used for decoration as it does have some damage to the handle

A Stanley S5 steel bodied jack plane. I believe this is a late 1930s - early 40s manufacture. The S5 has a pressed and riveted steel body. It is also lighter, at 1.6kg compared to around 2kg. The frog design is unique to this plane (and the S4 - the Smoothing plane version) and the handles are slightly different, but the cutter/lever cap/chip breaker are otherwise interchangeable with other Bailey pattern planes.

A block plane is designed to cut end grain and is typically small enough to be used with one hand with the cutting blade (also known as an iron) bedded at a lower angle with the bevel up compared against other planes.

Ready to work or display; the iron looks solid (check for the heart logo if you’re a collector).
