A FOUNDER'S GRADE EARLY STYLE FRONT KNOB for a Stanley No. 4 1/2, 6, 7, 606 or 607 plane or their corrugated sole equivalents. The early type knobs are approximately one-half inch shorter than the knobs introduced in the 1920's. This Brazilian Rosewood example, which came from a "Type 9" version of the No. 4 1/2 heavy smooth plane, is in essentially unused condition.
