This is a schwibbogen, a German made Christmas candle arch which is to be placed with lit candles in the front window at Christmas to guide the Christ Child through the dark of night. The Germans almost universally use red candles. Made in the Erzgebirge district. This nice, traditional schwibbogen features figures familiar to the Erzgebirge district: Miner, lace maker, toy maker. Size is 8 1/4" tall by 16 1/2" across. Cut out from wood with a jigsaw. This is a classic German Christmas ornament. Will be heavily padded and double boxed for a safe trip to you from Pompton Plains, NJ 07444.
