Pre-Columbian burnish red pottery vessel, decorated in white slip with stylised arms and legs for the applied head. Central spout with 2 costrel type handles. It is always hard to place these as there is a lot of overlap between cultures over a very large time period. I would put this as: Northern Peru, Lambayeque Valley, Sican/Lambayeque culture, ca. 750 to 1375 CE - based on a very similar example in the University of Columbia collection. I have also seen similar sold at auction as: Chorrera Culture, Ecuador c500-400 BC and Moche 12cm high With faults. Chips and cracks. A hole. Half of the head re glued. A few areas which look burnt. Please check photos carefully.
