Passionate about photography and an artist in his spare time, he makes his albums and brings together his selection of paper prints which he watercolors. Discharged from the army due to a lung disease, Charles Chevillot left for Africa before the end of the First World War. In 1917, he left with his wife for Dakar and held a position in the tax administration in Senegal, in Podor in 1917-1918, and in Louga in 1919.
