The box, with a hinged lid is beautifully cast and decorated in what is renaissance style: detailed high relief of a country scene on the lid scenes & decorative ornaments on all four sides. It is lined with green fabric inside which has expected discolouration. There are expected signs of wear to the metal that are commensurable with age & use.
