This charming "Lovell's" "Easter Eggs" pine and card box is in "as found" condition. The box would have been used to transport "Lovell's" "Easter Eggs" to the shop keeper and then used to display the contents on the counter. This box would have held 1/4 Doz and they were 1shilling each. George Frederick Lovell started manufacturing confectionery in 1884 at a premises in Newport, Wales. Lovell and Co Ltd became famous for its Toffee Rex, the ‘King of Toffees’ and its' Milky Lunch bars. The box is made from cardboard lid, back and bottom with pine sides, it has a yellow paper covering, with a label to the front and inside of the lid. The wonderful images on the internal label and the one to the front still have a good depth of colour. There are some thumb tack holes to the top if the lid, I assume where the prices were attached.
