A rare "READY EDGE" CUTTING IRON for a Stanley No. 3 or 5 1/4 plane by STANLEY. This uncommon 1 3/4" width Stanley patented plane iron is marked with the "Sweetheart" trademark. The concept of a plane iron having a removable and replaceable screw-on cutting edge was patented on December 6, 1927 by prolific Stanley inventor Edumnd A. Schade. Stanley No. 30 Transitional Jointer Plane Type 14 (1912-1918) Again a very nice example. V logo on the iron, Pat. 6-9-12, BAILEY, Stanley Rule & Level Co. No. 30 on the toe faint but legible. No. unwanted marks of any kind, Jappaning is near 100%. A hard one to beat.
